Scope:
Madison Square Presbyterian
Church classrooms were experiencing foundation movement causing cracks
in the existing floor tile. The 118 year old building had been monitored
by HDR / Simpson Engineering and Architectural Group for the last five
years, showing that the basement slab had continued to settle, leaving
the concrete beams heaved up and the floor unleveled. General
Supply was called in to assess the situation and determine the product
to solve the problem. Level-Right®
Plus was chosen because the 3500 total square foot areas to be leveled
varied from 1/4" to 1-3/4" and 2".
After shot blasting the areas to be
poured, a 4' square grid pattern was laid out on the floor. Tapcon
screws were then set by laser level to the elevations necessary to level
the floor while also keeping a 1/4" nominal thickness at the doors
of the classrooms. All expansion joints were raised to the new
level in accordance with the surrounding grid.
The classrooms were now ready
for the new vinyl floor tile.
